Epic Games is considering a Fortnite movie as a project for its entertainment division. According to Eurogamer, The Independent a Fortnite movie has “already been discussed” at Epic.

The Information claims that three top LucasFilm employees have joined Epic Games earlier this year. The movie studio’s former VP of physical production, Jason McGatlin is now the president of Epic’s special project division. McGatlin was an executive producer on all Disney’s Star Wars films. Other former LucasFilm exployees include Lynn Bartsch, head of business affairs, and Chris Furia, VP of production finance. Epic Games apparently sees creating a Fortnite movie as a move to boost its entertainment division.

It won’t be surprising to see Epic develop a Fortnite movie, as the game has continuing storylines across seasons as well as canonical Marvel in-game crossover and some stories from an official Batman comic series. Along with these, Fortnite features several popular characters from many movies and TV shows, and massive live-events. Currently, details regarding the Fortnite movie are limited. It’s unclear if the movie will live-action or animated and Epic hasn’t shared any information regarding the plot, cast, and creative team.

Fortnite is currently running its Halloween-themed Fortnitemares 2021 event. As part of the event, Epic Games has added new spooky outfits including the Universal Pictures-inspired Frankenstein’s Monster and The Mummy, The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes, and more. These outfits are now available in Fortnite’s Item Shop and more will be added during the event. Fortnitemares 2021 runs until November 1 and it will conclude with Fortnite’s next Short Nite film festival called Shortnitemares, which features horror shorts.
